About Pasifika Pua

What began as a small project making hair accessories for hula quickly blossomed into something much bigger. In February of 2024, we took our first step into the business world with a small table at our local winter market. We had just a handful of flower clips and four pairs of earrings. But what seemed like a modest beginning was only the start of a journey that would take us across state lines, into new communities, and into the hearts of those who resonate with and honor the culture we hold so dear.

A Blossoming Business

Our first market was a defining moment, a realization that there was something much larger at play. Not only did we get to share our creations with others, but we also learned the importance of connecting with people. From that moment on, every sale, every conversation, and every interaction was an opportunity to learn, grow, and reflect on the true essence of what we were creating: more than just jewelry, but cultural representation and a representation of our experiences.

As the months went on, our journey took us to places we had never imagined. We traveled to Idaho, Oregon and Seattle, where we not only sold our pieces but deepened our understanding of Hawaiian and Pasifika culture. These trips weren't just about business; they were about connecting with others who shared our passion for preserving and celebrating our heritage. Whether it was through fellow makers or customers who felt a personal connection to our products, we felt that spark of community every time.

Being based in Missoula, MT we sold at the summer markets, where we met even more wonderful people. Each market was a new learning experience, whether it was understanding the nuances of what people valued in handmade items or discovering the the ways people use their art to represent themselves and their community.

Our Mission: Representation Through Craft

At the heart of Pasifika Pua is a mission to authentically and stylishly represent Pasifika culture through our perspectives and experiences. As members of the Pasifika diaspora, we know how important it is to see yourself reflected in the world around you. Our pieces are more than just accessories—they are representations of who we are, where we come from, and the stories we carry.

Our goal is for our customers feel like they are carrying a piece of the islands with them, wherever they go. It’s about more than just wearing something beautiful—it’s about carrying with you a piece of your heritage, your culture, and your identity.

We are especially proud of how our creations bring visibility to Pacific Islanders, particularly those who live in the diaspora. Representation matters, and it’s our hope that our products help others on their own journeys of self-discovery, whether they are reconnecting with their roots or simply celebrating their cultural identity.

A Journey of Community and Growth

As we continue to grow, we remain committed to the learning process. There are still so many lessons to be learned, new experiences to be had, and countless connections to be made. Our journey is far from over, and we can’t wait to see where it leads next. But no matter how far we go or how much we grow, our mission remains the same: to honor our heritage, to create beautiful things, and to represent ourselves authentically.

We are so grateful to everyone who has supported us so far, and we look forward to continuing this journey with all of you.

Stay tuned for more creations, more markets, and more opportunities to connect. The adventure is just beginning!
